Mr Muir joined Fieldstone in 1997 and is on the board of the Fieldstone group of companies. Mr Muir has over 20 years experience in power industry and power corporate finance, particularly mergers and acquisitions, project finance, and privatisation in the power industry. Experience includes completing some of the largest energy transactions which have taken place in the UK, Europe, and Africa, and financing some of the largest independent power projects.

 

Specific transactions include the acquisition and subsequent refinancing of Sidi Krir (Egypt) for Globeleq, advising the Government of Uganda on the Privatization of the Ugandan Electricity and Distribution sector, advising Goldman Sachs on their bid for the 4000MW Drax coal fired power plant in the UK and the acquisition of distressed debt in a number of UK IPPs over a two year period, advising Xcel on the $2.8 billion sale of Yorkshire Electricity and advising Shell on its acquisition of a 50% interest in InteGen.

 

Prior to joining Fieldstone, Mr. Muir was an Associate Director of Vanguard Capital where he was responsible for leading the negotiations for structured finance projects in India including the $2 billion Dabhol power project, and the $1 billion Bhadravati power project. Between 1992 and 1995, Mr. Muir was a Business Development Manager with IVO Energy Limited, the Finnish owned power developer. While at IVO, he was involved in the negotiation, design, implementation and analysis of power projects, including the $800m Humber Power Project. Prior to joining IVO, Mr. Muir was with Southern Electric plc, where he was responsible for the portfolio analysis of power purchase agreements and the appraisal of power projects.

 

Mr. Muir is a Chartered Engineer, holds a BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering and obtained a Master of Science degree in International Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics.
