Biskaia Energia Refinances Amorebieta Power Station

December 31, 2006 – ESB and Osaka Gas, equal shareholders in the Biskaia Energia SL, the owner of the Amorebieta Power station, have completed the refinancing of the 755 megawatt (MW) natural gas-fired power facility in Amorebieta.  One of only two independent CCGT power stations in Spain, Amorebieta power station has commenced operations in August 2005, and is operating under a long-term tolling agreement with Shell Spain. 

 

Fieldstone Private Capital Group, a specialist international power and infrastructure investment bank, acted as the exclusive financial adviser to Biskaia Energia during the refinancing. 

 

The Fieldstone team was led by Michael Sutcliffe, a managing director based in Fieldstone’s London office.

 

Previously, Fieldstone has worked as an exclusive advisor to Osaka Gas on the purchase of a 50% shareholding in Biskaia Energia, the project company owner of the Amorebieta Power Plant.
